Handcrafted wood furniture with unique, craft-inspired detailing
Before he turned to furniture design, Stephen Redlich had pursued very different careers in mechanical engineering and software development. Today he showcases his wood creations at Heri Furniture Design, a diminutive showroom nestled in East Chinatown. A jack-of-all-trades, he often incorporates craft-inspired detailing like webbed rope and hand stitching into his pieces. Take the aptly named Stitched stool, which features a perimeter of threaded nylon needlework not unlike the seams found inside a tailored jacket. If you’re a sartorialist on the hunt for entryway wall hooks, Redlich’s nod to spools of thread — made of solid wood and hand-dyed braided cotton rope — might be your thing. @heri_furniture
