Acre Made Builds Heirloom-Quality Furniture Designed for Slow Living
From their country home, Jack Fouracre and Danielle Corriveau create stylish, sustainable furniture collections
Shortly after leaving his hometown in the English countryside and arriving in Toronto, Jack Fouracre launched his bespoke woodworking practice. After 10 years of production in the city, where he and his team were known as Son of a Woodcutter, Fouracre’s practice brought him to the countryside once again. This time, he’s in St. Marys, Ont., with a new team and his partner in life and work, Danielle Corriveau. The move coincided with a holistic rebrand to Acre Made, the duo’s shared practice merging Fouracre’s reputable craftsmanship with Corriveau’s passion for design.
From their new rural property and 10,000-square-foot production facility, the couple produce made-to-order furniture collections, along with fully custom builds informed by their clients’ requests. “We consider our pieces to be heirloom quality; designed to last for generations, rather than just a few years,” Corriveau says. “I grew up in a house full of antiques and learned to love the history and artistry of furniture designed for a long life; it’s become the core of what we do at Acre Made.” The result is a collection of furniture pieces designed to last a lifetime.

Along with a commitment to quality, Acre Made’s growing collection – ranging from dining and office boardroom tables to living room consoles – also reflects the brand’s philosophy of environmental sustainability. “Our move has enabled us to minimize waste and our impact on the land,” Fouracre says. Wood waste that cannot be repurposed is used to heat the couple’s home and manufacturing facility. Additionally, sourcing local materials is an integral part of the brand’s ethos and an essential ingredient in yielding a high-quality product.

Despite the calm that comes with life in the country, Acre Made’s slow-build approach is growing quickly. Currently in the works are an expansion to the brand’s furniture categories, a collection of global-artist collaborations, the hunt for a retail or showroom partner in the GTA, and Acre Office, the brand’s new line of boardroom tables, desks and more, set to launch later this year.
